Description:

2500 years ago, science and philosophy went hand in hand, and the universe seemed like a very different place.  Compare and contrast the views of thinkers such as Aristotle, Thales, Pythagoras, Hypatia and more.  Learn their views of the origin of everything, and our place in the universe.

Grade 6 Science, Understanding Earth and Space Systems

• Investigate the characteristics of the systems of which earth is a part and the relation between the earth, the sun and the moon
• Demonstrate an understanding of the composition of the system of which the earth is a part and explain the phenomena that result from the movement of different bodies of space
• Identify components of the solar system and describe their characteristics in qualitative terms
• Identify the bodies in space that emit light
• Describe the effects of the relative positions and motions of the earth, moon and sun
